"Burn The Ship" Mentality

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Growth is uncomfortable. Not growing is worse. I never leave home in such a long time, even to study. Since I was a kid. Before I left home, I took a short-term of internship at vet clinic and read a few books, the bare bone topic from those books were identical, about staying away from comfort zone (for me, read: burning my ships).

First I want to say, I am not saying, staying away from comfort zone, or for me, "BURNING THE SHIPS" is not to burn up all our safety nets, definitely keep the things that make sense. Examples of things to keep would be your savings, your relationship, your moral value etc. What I am saying is how we can removed those things we fall back on or distract ourselves to reach our goals or values. I'm suggesting awakening our self-awareness of how we get in our own way. If you this topic is a toxic positivity, I suggest you not to continue your reading. Feel free to skip the advice. Maybe it is, or maybe it is not...it is because the value we hold is different, or simply we see things differently.

Burning the ships means doing something that makes it impossible for ourselves to turn back, especially if it is done willfully and without necessity. It is the act when we join any party pursuing a risky undertaking, we will show maximum commitment, because we know that retreat is impossible.

There is no any use in holding back or playing it safe when there is no exit option to fall back on, there is no escape, and our best hope of survival lies in cooperating. Cooperating with ourselves, actually. Once the ships are burnt, it's do or die, or face death or captivity. Some people think 'burn the ship' is a scary mindset. If you are brave enough to take risks, it means you are fully committed to everything you choose, then you will not feel guilty in return, simply because you choose this way for yourself. If you feel guilty in return why you choose your own way, ask yourself: What is your goal? What is your value? Do you really know what yourself need? This is why self-awareness is important before we choose choices in life, it is not only about now, but it is about something in return too! (Baca:jangka pendek vs jangka panjang)

We are more than we think, we are our thoughts, principles, and turningpoint that shaped us. Progress, even a little, it is still a progress. I tend to make the best use of my time even I am busy with my work. Fellexandro Ruby is one of my good influencers, from him I learnt a lot of motivations of self-awareness. I started to limit my to-do-list and use 'the rule of three'. I do not work nine to five, I work nine to 18, sometimes nine to 20, sometimes nine to 22...but in a month I finished reading 4 journals (at least, I finish omce a week), finished a book (at least finish 100pages a week), and gained new skills (from webinar or vet books, at least I gained 1 in a week). I intend to make a week target for myself because I am a busy professional which do not have a lot of time. Working as a practicioner vet, I'm sure, made me a better vet. Maybe not quite in the way I was expecting to, but it opened my eyes ahd heart, and I began to see sort of things. Being vet is a blessing, it made me desperate to never stop learning. -end-
